Luxembourg Secretary of State for Culture Guy Arendt inaugurated the second edition of Network Day for Luxembourg libraries bibnet.lu, hosted by Bibliothèque nationale de Luxembourg (BnL) in collaboration with the Cité-Bibliothèque.

The day addressed the libraries that are members of the bibnet.lu network and offered a platform for exchange and discussion around a presentation of the innovative concept of the DOKK1 library of Aarhus in Denmark by its director Knud Schulz and four workshops. These workshops were devoted to library tools and new computer applications. More than 80 representatives from different libraries were present.

Secretary Arendt congratulated the network bibnet.lu for its continuous growth, commending it as  a "best practice" in terms of management and cross-functional cooperation between libraries. The secretary also praised the diversity of the documentary offer now available in Luxembourg and accessible via a single entry point, the portal www.a-z.lu.

Access to knowledge is one of the government's priorities. This is a cross-cutting task involving several ministries, in particular the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. In addition, Guy Arendt welcomed the fervour of libraries to take up the digital challenge and integrate new technologies into their offerings and services.
