The Ligue Médico-Sociale, which organises medico-social and social services for residents of the Grand Duchy, has received a cheque for €5,000 from BGL BNP Paribas following the participation of nearly 140 employees of the BNP Paribas Group in the Luxembourg Marathon in May earlier this year.
The cheque was awarded to Chair of the Ligue Médico-Sociale, Marguerite Scholtes-Lenners, by Carlo Thill, Country Head of BNP Paribas and Chairman of the Management Board of BGL BNP Paribas, and Marc Lenert, member of the Management Board of BGL BNP Paribas and Chairman of the Bank's 'Cercle Amical et Sportif', at a reception held last Thursday.
The funds were raised by almost 140 Luxembourg BNP Paribas Group members of staff who participated in the May marathon. The BNP Paribas Group in Luxembourg decidedto pledge a donation proportional to the number of runners crossing the finish line, marking the tenth consecutive year that the Group's employees have committed to supporting a charity organisation.
The money donated will this year go towards supporting the Ligue Médico-Sociale in its fight against tuberculosis and chronic and disabling respiratory diseases and actions towards school medicine, healthcare awareness and promotion, social support services, and debt advice services. Founded in 1908, the associations now relys on 180 professional employees based at 13 medico-social centres.
At the cheque presentation ceremony, the chair of the Ligue Médico-Sociale expressed her gratitude at the solidarity shown by the BNP Paribas Group employees. This was then echoed by Carlo Thill, who stated: "I would like to warmly thank the employees of the BNP Paribas Group in Luxembourg who participated in the race and rallied to contribute to the donation that we are presenting this evening to the Ligue Médico-Sociale. This initiative reflects the bank's commitment as part of its CSR policy".
