On Saturday 23 April 2016, the Brasserie du Grand Hôtel Mercure Alfa opened its doors for the fifth consecutive year to disadvantaged people among Luxembourg's population.

The food was prepared on site by five chefs, served by seven directors and three deputy directors, together with their teams, from the Accor hotel group, consisting of Ibis, Sofitel, Novotel and Mercure.

"It's a pleasure to come together, to do something for the community and for us all to set to work for guests in a completely different context," commented Willem Dullemond, General Manager at Mercure Grand Hotel and initiator of the ongoing annual project. "Now in its fifth year, it has become a tradition and we hope to keep it up for many years to come."

160 beneficiaries from the Stëmm vun der Strooss association were served a four-course meal in the grand dining room. After a welcome drink, lunch began with a starter of half fresh and half smoked salmon with a Grelette, or fresh tomato, sauce, followed by a main course of chicken roulade with feta, braised tomato and mixed olives accompanied by a Provence vegetable sauce, potato purée with olive oil and rocket salad. Guests were then offered Grattapaille cheese on a bed of salad, before the meal was rounded off with a dessert of chocolate tartlet.
