On Monday 5 October 2015, Luxembourg Minister for Education, Children and Youth, Claude Meisch, delivered the closing speech of the 'Education and the Investment Plan for Europe' conference, specifically designed to examine the investment of high-risk projects.

The conference was organised by the European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB), featuring presentations focused on education opportunities through the new investment plan. The plan will aim to fuel the recovery of investments in strategiy areas such as education, which have significant long-term opportunities which benefit society and the real economy.

The objective of the investment plan is to release at least €315 billion of additional investment over the next three years, including through a guarantee of funding of €21 billion.

Minister Meisch outlined the diversity of the projects which have been supported by the European Fund for Strategic Investments, stating "the continent must unite for the future of its youth, of its society".
