On Sunday 24 July 2016, SECURITYMADEIN.LU held the Hack4Kids event at the Foyer Diddellfamill in Dudelange, in collaboration with the l’Office luxembourgeois de l’accueil et de l’intégration (Luxembourg Acceptance and Integration Office, OLAI), the Luxembourg Red Cross, and the association Passerell and SCRIPT (BEE CREATIVE).

Founded in 2014 by SECURITYMADEIN.LU, Hack4Kids is an educative initiative concerning introductory programming, and information technology in general, developed for older children aged 7 to 12 years, and adolescents. The project is intended to stimulate creativity and to look "behind the screen".

The event attracted around 30 children from aged from 6 to 12, who learned to interact with the world of IT through numerous fun activities. It is the first time that the Hack4kids event produced educational material in the following five languages: English, German, French, Arabic and Farsi.

The event was a pilot project consisting of five workshops, all organised especially for the occasion. Some were about programming in its basic concepts (Human Robotron Drone Race, Pseudo-code Dance), others employed rather apprehensive artistic elements related to information technology (Sticky Art and Light painting).

"The idea behind these workshops, in the version dedicated to this project, was to allow children, through information technology, to collaborate and learn together even without necessarily being able to understand the same spoken language, "said Matthew Farcot to SECURITYMADEIN.LU.

"Hack4kids was effective: when the interest of the play exceeds the difficulty of the language, the interaction is present!" stated Cassie Adelaide from Passerell.

"We are pleased to have welcomed this creative event in our establishment, Diddelfamill (Dudelange). We look forward to future collaborations with SECURITYMADEIN.LU. " expressed Loris Spina from Foyer Diddelfamill.
