On 18 July 2017, the University of Luxembourg signed a new partnership agreement with Ferrero Group Headquarters in Luxembourg.

The new partnership between the university and Ferrero group will provide a framework for student stipends, internships, PhD research, and teaching activities in the Grand Duchy.

The Memorandum of Understanding sets out the Ferrero Fellowship Programme, with up to five promising Master students in the field of law, finance, economics, or entrepreneurship and innovation to receive a monthly stipend from Ferrero for the duration of their studies. This stipend is intended to cover accommodation costs for the students in Luxembourg.

A selection committee will choose the beneficiaries based on their application. In addition, an Internship Programme will facilitate Master students securing paid internships and gaining experience at this multinational company.

Professor Tonie van Dam, Vice-President for Doctoral Research and Training signed the partnership on behalf of the University. The memorandum was also signed by Ferrero’s Chief Financial Officer, Mr Jorge de Moragas.

The memorandum also sets out a Partnership PhD Programme, allowing PhD candidates to carry out research close to industry as well as enabling suitable candidates from Ferrero to pursue a PhD at the University of Luxembourg.

Finally, the adjunct teaching staff of the University will be strengthened through practitioners from Ferrero teaching select classes at Master level in the disciplines covered by the memorandum.
