On Friday 9 December, it was the moment of prestige and pride for the 2016 Graduating Class of the Jack Welch College of Business; crossing a milestone, the business college of Sacred Heart University, Luxembourg, celebrated the 25th Graduation Ceremony at Neimënster, Salle Robert Krieps.

The event began promptly with the musical procession of the graduates to the song Pomp & Circumstance/ Land of Hope and Glory by Edward Elgar. The graduates, dressed in their black gowns and graduation caps, were followed by the University Faculty and the Board of Regents.

Dr. John Chalykoff, Dean of the Jack Welch College of Business (from main campus Fairfield), welcomed the audience and congratulated the cohorts for their successful completion of the program.

Academic Director, Dr. Alfred Steinherr, delivered the Academic Director address where he assured the students all the support and guidance from Sacred Heart University even after graduation, “With your MBA diploma, you may afford a break for some time. But the business environment is changing so rapidly that soon you will need to convert to lifelong learning. Your Sacred Heart University s ready to accompany you on this learning journey”.

The honoured guest of the event was Prof. Georges Hübner, Professor of Finance, HEC-University of Liege and Chief Scientific Adviser, GAMBIT Financial Solutions. Prof. Hübner, in his commencement address, expressed his gratitude towards the college and spoke to students about the value of a MBA degree. He reminded the students that the tough paths are ahead of them and they should be ready for the challenges.

Addressing the audience, Dr. John Chalykoff shared, “I am truly amazed with the students. Our MBA program is very intense and requires a lot of time and commitment. It is really a commendable fact that our students of both the Part-Time MBA and MBA with internship programs have put in their whole effort in the program -- managing their studies and work simultaneously. Today we complete 25 years; we still have a long way to go”.

Paulo Fernandes was awarded the Gold Medal of Excellence and Caroline Louis Linel was awarded the Silver Medal of Excellence. In his valedictorian address, Paula Fernandes thanked the University for encouraging him to complete his studies and supporting him at every step.

Sacred Heart University’s Jack Welch College of Business (main branch in Fairfield, Connecticut, U.S) has been in Luxembourg since 1991 offering graduate level programs tailored to the needs of the working professionals. The AACSB accredited college of business is formally recognized by the Luxembourg Ministry of Higher Education & Research. In 2012, the University launched the full-time program of MBA with internship, accepting international students from across the world. 

With more than 200 guests present, the event saw the highest graduating class with 36 participating graduates from 22 different nationalities. The diversified student body representing Sacred Heart University comes from varied professional backgrounds including lawyers, engineers, consultants, bankers to name a few. 

The event also hosted musical performances by Kelsey Hopper. The ceremony was carried on in the most elegant manner with students, family and faculty.
