The University of Luxembourg and the National University of Laos have signed an agreement for a joint cooperative project.

On 21 December 2016, Romain Schneider, the Luxembourg Minister for Cooperation and Humanitarian Action, and Professor Rainer Klump, the rector of the University of Luxembourg, signed an agreement to finance a cooperative project between the University of Luxembourg’s Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, and the National University of Laos’ Faculty of Law and Political Science.

This agreement for interuniversity cooperation forms part of the fourth indicative cooperation programme between Luxembourg and Laos, which was signed on 17 September 2015, as well as the cooperation agreement signed by the two universities in November this year.

It aims to support advanced teaching in the field of law, training of educators, documentation and research, all the while strengthening good university leadership and local structures. The choice of law, with an emphasis on international and European law and international penal law, will also contribute to the improved governance of the country.

In the framework of this agreement, regular interuniversity exchanges will take place for Masters and PhD students, researchers and administrative staff. These will take the form of teaching and research visits, as well as administrative internships.

The agreement is valid for an initial period of five years.

In July 2015, the University of Luxembourg signed a similar agreement with the University of Juridical and Political Science and the University of Social Science and Management of Bamako, Mali, in the fields of law and economics.
