From 27 May to 15 September 2016, the Banque de Luxembourg will host an exhibition by renowned Belgian garden architect, François Goffinet.

Entitled "L'Art du Jardin et ses Métiers" ("The Art of the Garden and its Occupations"), the exhibition highlights the garden as the harmonious state in-between nature and man, in the subtly combination between shadow and light. The profession involves understanding the place in what is known as "space music". The long tradition of this process is showcased in this exhibition with plans, drawings, watercolours, photographs, models, sketches, sculptures and garden furniture. Architects and historians, painters and draftsmen, botanists and landscapers, sculptors, carpenters and blacksmiths all intersect to create an orchestra of trades.

The creations of François Goffinet range from small city garden parks, both public and private, to those of several hectares. His internationally-renowned achievements include the castle gardens of Badminton, Longleat and Leeds in England, the Donald M. Kendall sculpture park at the PepsiCo World Headquarters in New Yorl. fifteen London squares as well as gardens across Europe and North America. He has received the recognition and support of English Heritage and the University of Virginia in the U.S., and was the focus of the France 3 television programme "Des Racines et des Ailes" ("Roots and Wings").

The exhibition will be open Monday-Friday from 08:30 to 17:00, from 27 May to 15 September 2016 inclusive at Banque de Luxembourg, 14 Boulevard Royal L-2449 Luxembourg. Guided tours are offered every Wednesday evening at 18:00.
