On the occasion of International Archives Day on 9 June 2016, the National Archives of Luxembourg will be opening a participatory exhibition entitled "Blackouts/Trous de mémoires" on the theme of lost memory.

The exhibition will be launched with the personal contributions of author and musician Serge Tonnar; théâtre des Casemates playwright, Marc Limpach; chairman of the "Veräin vun de lëtzebuerger Archivisten", Evamarie Bange; and historian Sonja Kmec. Through the exhibition, the National Archives is aiming to raise public awareness of the importance of preserving memory, in a fun and poetic way.

Members of the public are also invited to take part, by communication to ANLux in a few words or sentences a puzzle piece that is lacking in their history, whether personal or collective: a missing document, forgotten information, evidence that has disappeared or a grey area that remains to be explored.

They are asked to send their testimony via the Facebook ("Blackouts / Trous de mémoire") or Twitter ("Blackouts_TdM") account that have been specially created, ot to expo@an.etat.lu specifying whether or not they wish to remain anonymous. These contributions will then be printed and hung on the walls of the exhibition among the messages of other participants in this collective project.

The exhibition will run until 28 February 2017.
