The Luxembourgish health safety authorities have been informed by the quick alert system that Wechsler trout fillets have most likely been contaminated by Listeria monocytogenes.

The product, the full name of which is ‘filet truite fumée s/atm. 500g’, has been distributed on a large scale in Luxembourg. The recall of this product is currently underway, and it has already been taken off the shelves in the concerned shops in the Grand Duchy. However, some has already been sold.

Possible symptoms of an infection caused by Listeria monocytogenes include a fever and/or headache, which can occur up to eight weeks after consumption of the contaminated product. The caused illness can be very serious for those at risk, and as such, pregnant women, people with immunodeficiency and elderly people should be the most alert to these symptoms.

People who have eaten this product and experience this type of symptoms should urgently contact their doctor, explaining the situation.
