At the invitation of the Centre hospitalier neuro-psychiatrique (CHNP), Luxembourg Minister of Health, Lydia Mutsch, recently visited the Psychiatry and Psychotherapy Clinic in Friedrichshafen (Lake Constance) and the Centre for Psychiatry in Reichenau.

These clinics are similar to the needs to Luxembourg in terms of size and catchment area and the planning of a new psychiatric hospital in Ettelbrück has been making significant progress and was approved by the Governing Council last week.

The architecture of the new building is based on the latest findings in psychiatric care in order to offer affected patients a more modern structure.

Health Minister Lydia Mutsch and Director General of the CHNP, Dr. Marc Graas, visited these clinics to gain a more accurate picture of a similar modern psychiatric clinic in terms of concept and construction. They were accompanied by a delegation of senior officials and experts from the Ministry of Health and the CHNP.

The exchange with hospital managers and healthcare professionals onsite allowed the visitors to gain a clear picture of how the architecture of modern, natural and comunity mental health may appear, and thus serve the optimal care of patients.
