A simulation exercise is scheduled to be conducted in the Mondorf tunnel on the A13 motorway (Autoroute de la Sarre) between Altwies and Mondorf on Saturday 1 October 2016, between 07:00 and 14:00.
Traffic is currently prohibited from entering the tunnel and is diverted from Altwies junction via the N16 highway to the Mondorf junction, and vice versa. The exercise is being organised by the Administration of Highways, in collaboration with the Luxembourg police, the Administration of the emergency services, fire brigades of the region and with the Inspectorate of Labour and Mines as observers.
The purpose of this exercise is to test the equipment and features of the tunnel and provide the various emergency services, firemen, Grand Ducal police and the administration of roads and bridges, the opportunity to train under real conditions to respond effectively to an accident or a fire in the tunnel.
