The De Rooy team, winners of the 2016 Dakar rally truck class, are aiming to win the rally again in 2017, using standard Goodyear Offroad ORD tyres.

Gerard De Rooy and his team have chosen Goodyear tyres for their four race trucks and service trucks. The team aims to win the 2017 Dakar Rally after last year’s win.

The team's four race trucks, along with all the fast service assistance trucks, will compete on standard Goodyear 375/90R22.5 Offroad ORD tyres, whilst the other service trucks will use Goodyear 315/80R22.5 Omnitrac MSS II and Omnitrac MSD II tyres.

The choice to use these tyres is based on the long and successful partnership between De Rooy and Goodyear. Following the tyres’ great performance in the 2016 Dakar Rally, the team have decided to use Goodyear’s tyres once again.

The first stage of next year’s rally will begin on 2 January 2017 in Asuncion, Paraguay. From here, over 550 trucks, cars and motorcycles will cross Bolivia and La Paz before reaching Buenos Aires, Argentina where the event will end on 14 January 2017. The Dakar rally has twelve stages and covers 8,500 kilometres of challenging terrain such as deserts, high mountains and rocks.

The De Rooy team is made up of Gerard De Rooy, Frederico Villagra, Ton Van Genugten and Wuf Van Ginkel, who is a new member.
