GoodYear has won the 2016 “Good Design” prize for its Eagle-360 3D printed tyre, at a ceremony in Colmar-Berg.

The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies have awarded the 2016 “Good Design” prize in the “Transportation” category to GoodYear’s Eagle-360 concept tyre.

For the 2016 award, the museum received thousands of submissions from manufacturers and graphic design worlds around the world from which it chose over 900 product designs and graphics for the Good Design award. The Eagle-360 is now part of the museum’s Permanent Design Collection and will feature in the Good Design 2016-2017 Yearbook.

GoodYear first presented the Eagle-360 tyre concept at the 2016 Geneva International Motor Show. The spherical 3D printed tyre is an example of GoodYear’s vision odf a long-term solution for the future with regard to the growth of autonomous driving. The tyre’s unique shape contributes to safety and manoeuvrability.

The Time-Magazine previously named the Eagle-360 as one of the best inventions of 2016.
