According to a study by ASFA, the Association of French Highway Companies, falling asleep at the wheel accounts for 1 in 3 fatal accidents on motorways.
This risk is unfortunately relatively unknown and also affects young people who do not fear sleepless nights and do not always realise that, even hidden by euphoria and excitement, fatigue is always present and can lead to fatal errors.
In order to draw the attention of young people to this issue, the Luxembourg Automobile Club (ACL) launched the "Drive safe, Stay Awake" contest in which participants had to put in pictures - a video or photo with a slogan - the dangers related to drowsiness at the wheel.
The winners of the two categories, selected by a jury as well as by the vote of the public (50/50), were presented their prizes at a ceremony that took place on 6 July 2017 at the Rotondes.
