St George’s International School in Luxembourg-Hamm invited guests to the 2015 Art Exhibition this Thursday 21 May for a private viewing. The exhibition features artwork from all students in Early Years to Year 9, as well as work from students studying Art at IGCSE and A-Levels.

Approximately 60 guests admired vibrant artwork and enjoyed music performances at the event, which was officially opened by the School’s Principal, Dr Christian Barkei.

The artwork on display demonstrated the many varied themes the students used to create their masterpieces. An abundance of talent can be seen in the artwork with a particularly impressive piece of art created through team work of a 2 metre mosaic life-like alligator using coloured ceramic squares.

The youngest artists were encouraged to experiment and explore independently, using a range of materials, processes and techniques; whilst older students created their own portfolio, including work study where they choose their own thematic approach and interpretation. A particularly engaging series of paintings from a secondary student featured portraiture on an African theme.

St George’s International School Luxembourg is located in Luxembourg-Hamm and caters to approximately 700 students, with 230 in the Secondary school. Events such as these are a regular occurrence.
