On Thursday 2 March, St George’s LAMDA students will be performing an adaption of the book ‘The Demon Headmaster’ by Gillian Cross; the performance is open to the public and will be taking place in St George’s Auditorium from 18:00.

St George’s has confirmed that Gillian Cross, the author of ‘The Demon Headmaster’, will be attending the performance.

"It will be exciting to see "The Demon Headmaster" come to life in front of my eyes. I can't wait to see the performance!" stated Mrs Cross.

During Book Week, St George’s has the privilege of welcoming author Gillian Cross to the school. Mrs Cross is an award winning author of children’s books winning the 1990 Carnegie Medal for ‘Wolf’ and the 1992 Whitbread Children's Book Award for ‘The Great Elephant Chase’. She wrote ‘The Demon Headmaster’ series of books turned into a successful television series by the BBC and a musical which went on tour in 1998.

Every year, St George’s invites special guests to present and read to the students during Book Week. Past authors who have visited are; Nick Sharratt, the illustrator of nearly 250 books and the author of around 40, English writer Jeremy Strong, who is credited with over 100 children’s books and Neil Griffiths, a renowned children’s author and creator of Storysack.
