Until 22 August 2015, La Belle Étoile shopping centre will be displaying four Märklin model railroad layouts, three of which were designed by German artist Bernhard Stein.

The most imposing of the models is 30 metres long with 300 metres of track journeying through a landscape of lakes, forest and castle ruins, with great attention to detail. Two other models depict the trains travelling through summer and winter landscapes, crossing villages and traversing mountain tunnels.

Viewers will also have the opportunity to discover the collections of four model train enthusiasts in Luxembourg who will be showcasing a sample of their locomotives, wagons, railcars and automobiles.

Märklin is a German toy company, originally founded in 1859, who is currently best known for its creation of model railways and technical toys.  In 1891, the company released its first wind-up train with accompanying expandable track and has since continued to produce collectible items, with early models now worth sizeable sums at auction. Rare models, coveted by modern collectors, include the AMTRAK ICE model, the SBB Crocodile model and the well-known Union Pacific Big Boy model.
