Luxembourg food safety authorities have warned of the possible presence of scorpions in longan fruits coming from Thailand.

The warning comes following the notification by the Grand Ducal Police that one person had been stung by a scorpion hiding in a packet of exotic fruits originating from Thailand.

The presence of scorpions in exotic fruits is very rare. Nevertheless, the possibility of finding other scorpions in the same lot cannot be excluded.

The product in question was distributed via the Asia Market store at 5 Fort Elisabeth in Luxembourg city. On the authorities’ request, the shop removed the products from sale. As such, food safety authorities have warned consumers to be aware of the following product: Longan fruit produced by Thai Fresh Garden International, 250g, in the lot number TL 002.
