The Cactus Howald supermark has got a new look; yesterday it inaugurated its new temporary supermarket located in the former underground car park at level -1.

This supermarket will welcome customers until 2018 in order to allow the complete renovation of the above-ground premises.

Cactus Howald, established on 7 March 1989 in the business zone in Howald, will be completely renovated. After an exceptional week of closure to relocate the commercial furniture, installations and products, Cactus Howald resumed its supermarket activities yesterday in the former underground car park -1. The parking, completely converted into a temporary supermarket, will welcome guests onver an area of nearly 4,500 m². Visitors will also find a dining area and a space reserved for the sale of flowers, located at the back of the cash desks. The commercial premises of the tenant shops are located throughout the period of renovations in a container located in the outdoor car park. All measures have been taken to allow customers to continue shopping as usual.

The opening of the temporary supermarket was celebrated on Wednesday 25 January with a late opening and a host of gifts and surprises for all customers. Claude Ganser, manager of Cactus Howald, was pleased with the result and stated "The return of customers after this first opening day was very positive and customers were curious to discover the supermarket in the basement. Pending the reopening of the Cactus Howald, whose work has just begun, I am convinced that the buying experience of our customers will increase considerably in our temporary supermarket thanks to the wider aisles and more modern design."

Construction work on the temporary supermarket began in August 2015, initially with the creation of new underground car parks on two levels located under the former Munhowen buildings. More than six months of intense work followed: structural work, floors, electricity, technical equipment and finishes. Since March 2016, many trades have intervened to carry out the work on the temporary store: finishing of the floors, lighting, reserves, painting and installation of the furniture. For a number of days, the renovations of the old supermarket have been in progress.
