On Wednesday, the president of Luxembourg's parliament, Mars di Bartolomeo, visited Initiativ Liewensufank, the Pregnancy, Childbirth and Parenting Centre.

The centre is located in Itzig and offers women and men a place and an opportunity to meet, both before and after the birth of a child, and attend courses or groups to discuss the changes, hopes, fears and joys attendant on this turning point in their lives.

They offer English courses too, including prenatal classes, hypnobirthing and yoga; after-birth baby massage is also an option. The choice for courses is larger for Luxemburgish- or German-speaking parents.

The Initiativ Liewensufank also offers competent information and counselling to prospective and new parents by a multidisciplinary team of midwifes, nurses, psychologists, pedagogues, sociologists, lactation and breastfeeding consultants in many different languages.

After visiting the different welcoming rooms, the president of Parliament discussed with staff members and received explanations about the development of Initiativ Liewensufank, the counselling and courses offers, from the director and board members. Mars di Bartolomeo listened carefully to the explanations about problems that mothers and fathers can have in Luxemoburg.

The president of parliament was impressed by the development of the association and the immense work they are doing to inform and support parents.
