The annual Duck Race in Pétrusse valley in Luxembourg city will take place on Satuday 25 April 2013.

Thousands of plastic ducks can be found in the middle of the city for their annual Duck Race, a traditional event organised by the Luxembourg Round Table under the patronage of the City of Luxembourg.

The 14th edition of this popular event starts at the Rue Saint-Quirin, near the mini golf. Entertainment for children and adults begins at noon and at 15:00 sharp, some 13,500 ducks will be launched in the Pétrusse below the viaduct. Visitors will be spread aong both banks of the river to experience the three races: two qualifying heats and a final which will take place between the most mighty ducks. The finish will be at the entrance of the Rue Saint-Quirin.

Since 1963, the Luxembourg Round Table is committed to tolerance, friendship and service and investing money raised from the Duck Race to benefit charity.

This year the proceeds will be dedicated to two international good works supporting disadvantaged children and young people, namely the Little Sequoia Rwanda (helps in schooling children in Rwanda), Shalom Orphanage Ghana (improves living conditions for children in Ghana) and Study Help Roumanie (helps children with their studies in Romania).

Persons wishing to participate in this event can purchase tickets in advance at the price of €5. All the ducks have a number corresponding to a number on a lottery ticket. Presale tickets are available from: Luxembourg City Tourist Office in Luxembourg City, Asport outlets and AutoCenter Goedert outlets. In addition, tickets are also available online at the Duck Race website (www.duckrace.lu)  and from members of the Roundtable. The latest opportunity to ensure participation will be for sale on site before the start of the race.

The ducks crossing the finish line first will receive one of many prizes from sponsors such as travel, shopping vouchers, dinners, etc.. This year the first prize is a Citroen C1 Airscape car offered by Etoile Garage.
