Despite the intermittent rain in Luxembourg city on Saturday afternoon, crowds turned out for the annual Duck Race held in aid of charity.

Heats were required to determine who (which plastic ducks) qualified for the final, with valuable prizes up for grabs for the lucky winners, including a Citroen C1 Airscape car offered by Etoile Garage as well as travel, shopping vouchers, dinners, etc. Those sponsoring ducks had paid €5 for the privelidge, with proceeds going towards children's charities.

This year the proceeds are dedicated to two international good works supporting disadvantaged children and young people, namely the Little Sequoia Rwanda (helps in schooling children in Rwanda), Shalom Orphanage Ghana (improves living conditions for children in Ghana) and Study Help Roumanie (helps children with their studies in Romania).

A feeder source of the Alzette River running through the Pétrusse valley was awash with yellow as thousands of yellow ducks (13,500 to be precise) were released at 15:00 at the start of the 14th holding of this annual event organised by the Luxembourg Round Table under the patronage of the City of Luxembourg, with city mayor, Lydie Polfer, officiating.

Since 1963, the Luxembourg Round Table is committed to tolerance, friendship and service and investing money raised from the Duck Race to benefit charity.
