The English section of natur&ëmwelt is organising a day outing in Valwig, Germany to observe the rare Apollo butterfly and other fauna around the area, such as other butterfly species, lizards and birds, on Saturday 4 July from 09:30.

The Apollo butterfly can be seen on calm and sunny days between the end of May and the beginning of July on the steep and rocky slopes over the Mosel.

The group will meet at the parking places along the Mosel river, upon entering the village of Valwig, coming from Cochem. From there, a long walk is scheduled, with a picnic lunch in between. In the afternoon, the group will make its way back to Valwig, where it will enjoy a drink and a snack.

Car sharing offers and requests are welcomed to facilitate transport. A backpack, with some water, sun protection, a picnic lunch and hiking footwear are recommended.

Those interested in joining, should register by 1 July via https://www.eventbrite.com/e/looking-for-the-apollo-butterfly-and-other-animals-tickets-16266390211.
