On Sunday 17 April 2016, the 7th edition of the DKV-Urban Trail will be held in Luxembourg City.

Registrations were first opened in November 2015 to 3,000 participants. Last year's event managed to bring in more than 2,500 runners, despite the less than favourable weather conditions.

"Last year we didn't have much luck with the weather," joked José Azevedo, head organiser of the DKV Urban Trail. "Hopefully this year will be better!"

The DKV-UrbanTrail offers a variety of races according to different levels and capabilities: the longest trail is 'La GranDucale' of 34km, followed by the 27km 'Les Trail des Forts'; the 13km 'Les Traces de Vauban', which has the option of an individual trail and Nordic Walking; as well as a 900m and 1,600m 'Mini-trail' for 6-8 year olds and 9-12 year-olds, respectively. In 2015, 'Les Traces de Vauban' proved the most popular, receiving 1,574 registrations.

Regarding the trails, a novelty for this year is the 4 co-runners relay which is now possible as part of 'La GranDucale', split into 6/10/10/8 kms. Also new to the 2016 edition is the addition of the Cité Judiciaire as a place, chosen for its architecture and space.

A Trail village will be set up at the final stage, providing a large tent filled with activities for the runners' companions, such as catering stands and face-painting for children, as well as a podium for the winners.

The presentation of the 2016 edition held on Friday was also an opportunity to present two cheques of €2,300 each to the associations Télévie and Solidarité Jeunes. The money was raised through an initiative during the 2015 event, whereby 1€ was doanated for every paid registration. The organisers of the DKV-Urban Trail announced that the same system will be used for this year's event.
