At a press conference held on Thursday morning at Sofitel Kirchberg, Premium Magazine and their principal partners BGL BNP Paribas Private Banking and Land Rover Luxembourg (Arnold Kontz) announced the 2nd edition of WatchFair Luxembourg.

The event, which will be held at the Domaine Thermale Mondorf-les-Bains this coming 3, 4 and 5 June 2016 will bring together an exhibition of some rare and exclusive watches never before seen in Luxembourg and will include a series of 12 awards by an international panel of horological experts for the best in class of, among others, design, innovation, aviation, sport, ladies, classic etc.

The event is also supporting the Make a Wish Foundation who will be exhibiting some classic and collectors cars outside the event including a 1947 Fiat 1100 S and a Bugatti Type 51 from the early 1930s.

Speaking for Premium Magazine, Anne Ciancanelli stated that there are serious watch collectors in Luxembourg who up until now have always been obliged to go to Paris or Switzerland to view the latest time pieces. Last year they brought previously unseen pieces to Luxembourg, and this year promises to be even better. She went on to add that they are trying to place Luxembourg as one of the premium watch destinations in Europe.

For main sponsor BGL BNP Paribas Private Banking their director, Benoit Quisquater said that it was a natural event for his bank to sponsor as the word “time” links both the world of horology and the world of private banking. Speaking on behalf of Arnold Kontz, Duncan de Boe pointed out that the high-end British badged cars such as Lotus, Range Rover, Aston Martin and Jaguar (from 1 June) which are being sold by Arnold Kontz have many things in common with high-end watches, and in some cases may even attract the same clientele.

As well as the watch exhibition and competition there will also be practical demonstrations of the art of both watch and jewellery making as well as whisky and cigar tasting sessions.

The event is open to the public on 4 and 5 June 2016 between 10:00 and 18:00 with a preview by invitation only on the evening of Friday 3 June 2016.
