SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde has organised its next second-hand book market for 28 and 28 January 2017 at the Cultural Centre in Cessange.

As well as announcing the dates of its upcoming second-hand book market, SOS has revealed that it will be using the €5,000 it received at last year’s market for its educational project in Aleppo.

The €5,000 cheque which SOS received last year from the book market’s organisers in Cessange, is set to be used on its teams on the Aleppo project who are providing informal educational activities for children affected by the Syrian conflict.

Last Spring, Espace Ami des Enfants d’Alep, which served as an educational centre in Aleppo, was forced to close as a result of the increasing violence. Now SOS’s teams are in the process of planning the reopening of this welcome centre in Aleppo and the opening of two more nearby centres.

The project concerns the development of recreational activities and informal educational programmes focusing on the participation of the children. Its objective is to help these children to return to school in a welcoming environment.
