On Friday evening, a total of 13 teams participated in the inaugural table quiz organised by the English-speaking Section of natur&ëmwelt at the Naturata restaurant in Munsbach.

With a total of 85 questions over eight rounds - the "Luxembourg General Knowledge" round comprised 15 questions, the others ten each - the "nature" theme shone brightly through, with rounds on "The Natural World", "Nature in Art", "Nature in Music", "The Natural World, True or False?", "Nature in Literature, Theatre and Cinema", as well as "General Knowldge" and "Music", which was also nature-themed.

natur&ëmwelt has around 17,000 people on its mailing list, with the English-speaking section being created a number of years ago to cater for its growing English-language members. They organise regular events, from bird-watching to clearing woodland, and also link up with a group focussing on bees.

Questions on the evening ranged from identifying the country with the longest border with Luxembourg (Belgium, just longer than Germany), who did Grand Duchess Charlotte succeed (Marie-Adelaide), with the music questions ranging from the Boomtown Rats to Swan Lake, and others on Atlantic salmon and thunder and lightning.

The entry fees went towards the prizes which included organic chocolate foe the spot prizes, and organic wine for the top three teams. At the end, The Hitchcoks and The Sparrowhawks were tied on 59 poijnts for second, but it was Birds of Paradise who came out winners with a grant total of 64 points, out of a total of 85.
