It’s springtime for poets and this year’s edition of Luxembourg’s celebration of poetry kicks off with a performance of “Pterodactyl in a Cage” at the Simoncini Gallery by poet Florent Toniello accompanied by Jean Hilger on the piano.

Toniello brings us an original work, “an epic of the senses”, describing the turbulent emotions and experiences of a caged pterodactyl to the sounds of in turn intimate and explosive music by composers such as chönberg, Scriabin, Glass, Janáček, Kurtág, Satie, Cowell, Prokofiev, Bartók, Poulenc, Ligeti and Bach, played by Hilger.

Jean Hilger is described as a versatile pianist, a classical interpreter who plays the piano in daring style, as well as a pedagogue, artistic director, producer and creator always exploring new avenues of expression aimed at sound imagery.

The performance, on 9 March, starts at 19:30 at the Simoncini Gallery.
