As part of its project to raise awareness of bees and biodiversity, the City of Luxembourg is offering walking tours of about 2.3 km through the capital between 20 May and 17 September this summer. 

With eleven information points and a discovery workshop, the organisers hope the course will attract children and adults alike, enabling them to get to know the world of bees and other insects that are essential for a healthy and balanced environment, as well as the richness of the environment, fauna and flora in urban areas.

Panels in French, German and English will provide detailed explanations of the biodiversity in the city, the different varieties of wild and honey bees and their living space, lifestyle, reproduction, orientation and products from their work, such as the honey of the City.

A workshop in the National Museum of Natural History will allow visitors to playfully examine the characteristics of bees, bumblebees, hornets and wasps, but also parasites harmful to these insects that are essential to the survival of any living being. It will also be possible to observe in real time the daily movements of the bees in their hive thanks to a video transmission on the city website: beien.vdl.lu.

The Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO), natur & ëmwelt, the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN) and Joé Molitor, are organizing the Bee and Biodiversity Awareness Project, As well as with the kind support of the Judicial City, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructures and Servior - Op der Rhum.

The leaflets with a map showing the different stages of the course are available at the Luxembourg City Tourist Office, the Bierger-Center and along the route in boxes at the Place de Clairefontaine, near the lift leading to the Grund district, in Plaetis Street and Biisserwee.

There will be a free guided tour on Thursday 29 June at 17:00.
