Between June and September this year, as part of their Urban History series, the National Museum of History and Art (MNHA), and the Museum 3 Eechelen, are organising four guided tours of the city’s historical sites, starting this Saturday.

Park, Casemates and J.P. Pescatore Foundation

The visit recalls the origins of the Pescatore Foundation, explains the choice of the location of the establishment, its architecture and its original installations, including a visit to the chapel, as well as the casemates of the old fort Berlaimont. From military wastelands to the optimal city

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Treaty of London declaring the neutrality of Luxembourg and demanding the dismantling of fortifications, this tour offers a discovery of the conversion of the ancient fortress city into an open city. The tour shows how the ancient fortress city turns into a shopping city. It explains the organisation of commerce in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The conference visit describes the place of the hotel industry in the economy of the city. The guided walk again questions the commercial character of the architecture of commerce. "Haptwuecht" and Heintz van Landewyck park

In 1902, Joseph Heintz-Michaelis rebuilt the former guard house of the Prussian garrison in the park of his tobacco factory. A matter of amateurism, or rather of patriotism?
