The Pierre Werner Institute (IPW) will welcome the university professor and literature specialist Karl Heinz Bohrer, who will present his latest work, on Tuesday 27 June 2017 at 19:00.

A provocative and influential intellectual, Karl Heinz Bohrer has lived and marked the history of the Federal Republic of Germany. He is also known as director of the literary section of the journal FAZ and a publisher of the magazine Merkur.

Next week, he will come to present his latest work “Jetzt. Geschichte meines Abenteuers mit der Phantasie” (Suhrkamp, 2017), from which he will read extracts as well as discuss with the historian Ingrid Gilcher-Holtey from the University of Bielefeld.

Bohrer’s latest work recounts, in nine chapters, the history of his life, beginning with the end of the 1960s. He relates his conflict with the FAZ newspaper, his friendship with Ulrike Meinhof and his both realistic and subjective experiences during his stays and university studies in France, England and the United States, while taking an uncompromising view of the current situation.

The event will be held in German.

Tickets cost €10, €5 for under 26s and €1.50 for Kulturpass holders. These can be purchased via tel.: 262 052 444.
