The annual Mister and Miss Luxembourg Contest Finals will be held Saturday 15 November in the Chapito room at Casino 2000 in Mondorf, and this year a third category – Miss Teen will also be contested.

No less than 242 candidates have signed up for this year’s Contest and in the seven-year history of the event, it is now a total of 1,739 candidates to have ever registered overall.

Seventeen women, six men and six teens were selected as the finalists for the three respective categories and will have the chance to show the illustrious panel of judges and the audience their beauty and charisma over five different rounds. There will be no early elimination on the evening, with all finalists performing until the end when the winners are announced. The finalists will wear their own outfits – a different one each round – representing their personal lives, by illustrating their hobbies, daily activities and interests and revealing more about themselves to the panel and audience.

The judges’ panel includes Preisent of the National Committee, Muriel Gilbert, Vice-President, Boubaker Almi, CEO of Atmosphair, Claude Hausser, RTL Luxembourg Presenter, Sandie Lahure and Bailiff, Maître Carlos Calvo. The audience will also be able to vote via SMS and will account for 40% of the total vote.

The criteria for selection of finalists was extensive and included being born in Luxembourg or having Luxembourg nationality, being involved in a social or humanitarian cause and being single with no children, among other points, to be eligible.

Given the success and high number of registration, for this year, the Miss Teen category was introduced and young ladies aged between 14 to 17 were eligible.

To register, candidates had to fill out an online information form and post two photos. They were then selected for preliminary ‘casting’ interviews earlier this year, from which the finalists were selected.

Winning Mister, Miss and Miss Teen Luxembourg is an achievement for life and there are great benefits and responsibility that come with being crowned as the winner, such as representing Luxembourg in world contests, such as Mister Universe and Miss World, to name just the main ones, as well as in other events, such as fashion shows and showcasing designer brands.

The National Committee along with their sponsors also ensure that the winners are taken care of, by offering hair cuts and styling by Atmosphairand with Gottex (GTX) providing swmsuits for that portion of the Contest, as well as a variety of selective boutiques offering their items to the contestants for use during the Finals.
