This Sunday 30 November, as part of the Winterlights programme announced by the Ville de Luxembourg, the St. Nicholas procession will take place through the streets of the Grand-Duchy’s capital.

The festive contingent will include the St. Nicholas chariot, the chariot of angels, Black Peter’s carriage, snowmen, groups of scouts and young fire fighters, the Transmusek musical ensemble, and the “Péitruss Express” city train, which will carry presents and delicacies. They will depart from 13:30 at the Luxembourg Gare, where there will be some speeches made and sweets will be distributed to the children present, as wall as musical accompaniment from Big Band Spectrum.

The procession will continue toward the town centre, passing by the Avenue de la Gare, Rue du Fort Bourbon. At 14:25, they will visit the St. Nicholas market at the Place de Paris and the Clinique Ste Thérèse, before visiting the Avent Circus set up on the Glacis.

Around 16:00 the procession will make its way back into the town centre to the Christmas market at the Place de la Constitution (Golden Lady) with musical entertainment by “Geigenduo La Dolce Vita”. They will then make their way through town, from the Rue Philippe II, to the Grand Rue then to the Rue du Marché-aux-Herbes and the Rue de la Reine to get to the Place Guillaume II, where the procession ends.

Once at the square, there will be more speeches, scouts will distribute goody bags filled with sweets and the Ville de Luxembourg will host a reception at the Hôtel de Ville with music from “Bouneweger Nuechtigailercher".
