On Thursday 3 December 2015, François Bausch will be participating in several events related to the decarbonisation of transport at the COP21 conference taking place in Paris.

In the morning, the Luxembourg Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure is due to speak at the conference 'Urban Mobility, Low-Carbon and Clean Vehicles, Walking and Cycling' organised by the Lima-Paris Action Agenda (LPAA).

He will then join the European Commission and Ministers from several countries including Sweden, France, India, Tunisia, Morocco, Brazil and Chile for a working lunch organised by the International Transport Forum (ITF). Here, Ministers will discuss the issues related to emissions reduction in the field of transport, namely new technologies, best practices and interactions between the public and private sector.

In the afternoon, Minister Bausch will then deliver a sppech at the flagship event 'Transport Decarbonisation as an Engine for Growth' organised by the European Commission in the presence of multiple policy makers and other stakeholders.

Under the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Soft Mobility Cell of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure will also participate in COP21, where it will present the 'Luxembourg Declaration on the Bicycle as a Climate-Respectful Mode of Transport' as it was adopted on 7 October 2015 at the informal meeting of Ministers of Transport. With this statement, Member States will be calling on the European Commission to include cycling in multimodal mobility, to develop a 'cycling strategy' and to establish a single point reponsible for facilitating the exchange of best biking practices.
