The Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure and the Administration of Nature and Forests today announced that a tree felling project in Ettelbrück is to recommence in September 2015.

The project was temporarily abandoned in April earlier this year when it was discovered that the tree cutting was affecting a brooding grey heron colony, meaning that the course of the project was hindered until the breeding season of the species was over.

Now that the young of the grey herons have fledged and left the nest, the project, involving timber removal to create housing and a bike trail, will be reprised from September 2015, with work expected to be completed by the end of the month.

With the roject, the Administration of Nature and Forests aims to preserve the existing hardwood and ensure the continuance of this hardwood in a difficult terrain.
