Luxembourg's Secretary of State for the Economy, Francine Closener, is currently on a 3-day working trip to the United States from 2 to 4 June 2015.

At two seminars, in Washington and New York, she is making presentations to tour operators and representatives of the American press Luxembourg's strengths as a tourist destination. The Secretary of State for the Economy is accompanied by representatives of the National Tourism Office (ONT) and the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO).

This promotion mission is to encourage North American tourists to visit the Grand Duchy during their stay in Europe. The number of nights spent in Luxembourg by such tourists currently stands at almost 55,000 a year. Due to the economic recovery in the United States and the loss of value of the Euro against the US Dollar, the US travel market is experiencing some growth potential.

The working visit also includes a meeting with High Representative of female entrepreneurship in the United States and the visit of a secondary school with an innovative concept in the teaching of ICT.
