Various representatives of the diplomatic, political, business and art worlds gathered at the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Tokyo yesterday for the inauguration of the exhibition 'Luxembourg, the Land of My Heart' by photographer-painter Jacques Schneider.

The exhibition, which opened the Luxembourg Presidency of the EU Council in Brussels, has been adapted for display at the premises of the Maison du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg in Tokyo. The 'Triple Vive' series was added to the fine collection of works on Luxembourg, its landscapes, its architecture and its institutions. The exhibition showcases the multiple facets of the country through landscapes of the Ardennes, the Upper Sûre, the Mullerthal and the many attractions of the capital.

Luxembourg Ambassador to Japon Béatrice Kirsch announced, in the presence of exhibition artist Jacques Schneider and Ambassador Viorel Isticioaia Budura, EU representative in Tokyo, that three paintings from the 'Place de l'Europe' series will be showcased at Europe Housa as part of an agreement for the provision of works of art.

Thanking the Luxembourg Presidency and Jacques Schneider for this gesture, the latter of whom recently created a 'Luxembourg!' exhibition for the Banque Internationale à Luxembourg (BIL), the Ambassador emphasised that the symbolism of the tableaux were particularly well suited to decorating the premises of the Delegation of the European Union in Tokyo and that the triptych would be exposed in a chosen public space.
