Accompanied by a large business delegation, Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy, Étienne Schneider, visited Bremen in northern Germany on Thursday and Friday this week as part of a Luxembourg trade mission.

Minister Schneider met with the Mayor of the Hanseatic city, Dr. Carsten Sieling, and discused topical issues as well as strengthening ties between Luxembourg and the Freie Hansestadt.

The Deputy Prime Minister also met with the Senator for Economics, Labour and Ports, Martin Günthner. During their meeting, the two counterparts discussed the economic and social challenges Bremen and Luxembourg are facing. The two ministers agreed to further deepen existing relationships, particularly in sectors such as logistics, space and materials, and in the field of science and research.

The economic delegation consisted of senior business leaders within logistics, aerospace, automotive and materials.

As part of the trade mission, Minister Schneider also visited two companies, including meeting with Marco Fuchs, CEO, at OHB's company's headquarters - a major European company active in the space sector, particularly in building satellites. OHB also has a subsidiary in Luxembourg, Luxspace"; the meeting identified new areas of cooperation in the space sector.

Minister Schneider subsequently visited the Airbus Defence and Space premises to discuss the latest developments in the field of European space programmes such as the International Space Station (ISS), and to visit the space laboratory Spacelab and Columbus, the programmess being attached to Airbus Bremen site.
