On Thursday 19 May 2016, an officer and a sergeant of the Luxembourg Army returned home after four months with the EUTM mission in Mali.

The officer held the position of High Level Human Resources Specialist in the framework of the Council mission to Malian authorities to reform their army and the NCO was a training officer for the Malian armed forced.

EUTM Mali was established on 19 February 2013 as a military mission of the European Union to contribute to the training of the Malian armed forces.

The Luxembourg Army is also present in Kosovo as part of the KFOR mission, although Luxembourg Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Étienne Schneider, announced earlier this month that the government will be ending its military presence in Kosovo by February 2017.
