On Friday, the Luxembourg government's cabinet meeting agreed to extend the Luxembourg participation in the observation mission of the European Union in the EUCAP SAHEL mission in Niger.
The purpose of the draft law is to extend the participation of the Grand Ducal Police in the civilian mission by the European Union in Niger. This mission aims to assist the Niger authorities in the implementation of their own security and development strategy. Besides the support for the fight against terrorism and against organised crime, the mandate of the mission received an extra dimension by the addition of assistance in the fight against irregular migration.
