The Luxembourg Minister for Cooperation and Humanitarian Action, Romain Schneider, has decided to strengthen Luxembourg's financial support for multilateral and reproductive health programmes.

Luxembourg will invest more in reproductive health programmes as part of ongoing international efforts to overcome the lack of resources for the UN’s agencies.

This decision comes as a result of the recent US presidential decree announcing the cessation of financial support and possible retaliatory measures against long-established programmes by multilateral agencies and NGOs in the field of sexual and reproductive health.

In this context, Luxembourg supports the Dutch initiative 'She decides – Global Fundraising Initiative’, which aims to create specific funds for family planning programmes in developing countries.

As such, Minister for Cooperation and Humanitarian Action has taken the decision to increase existing contributions, notably for the UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund), which manages provisions in the area of family planning.
