On Thursday 1 June 2017, François Bausch, Luxembourg's Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, attended the International Transport Forum held in Leipzig which was being held over 3 days and attracted more than 1,300 industry players from 80 different countries.
During the visit, the minister attended a ministerial meeting on the governance of global transport connectivity, at which the new ITF general secretary, Young-Tae Kim, was elected.
Minister Bausch also participated as a speaker at the "Governance of major passenger transport hubs" roundtable and presented the integrated concept of the 9 exchange centres located on the line of the new tramway of the City of Luxembourg as well as the Grand Duchy's Electromobility project (installation of 1,600 charging points at national level until 2020).
In a bilateral meeting with Philippe Citroën, Managing Director of the European Railway Industry Association (UNIFE), the Minister discussed a number of major European issues of relevance to rail, namely the implementation of the fourth deployment of ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) and European investment policies.
Minister Bausch also signed an aerial agreement with the Mongolian People's Republic, represented by its Minister of Transport Ganbat Dangaa, which provides for mutual traffic rights between the two countries.
