Luxembourg Health Minister Lydia Mutsch attended the 12th International Congress on Design and Health which took place from 12 to 16 July 2017 in Vienna.

This Congress, organised by the International Academy for Design and Health (IADH), is a platform for the interdisciplinary exchange of know-how and experiences between policy makers and key figures in the fields of design, health, science and culture.

At a round table on the role of health infrastructures in promoting public health, Minister Mutsch placed particular emphasis on the quality of medical care and the obligation to guarantee each patient safety, hospitality and professionalism.

Lydia Mutsch also presented the Luxembourg health system, based on the fundamental principle of universality, equity and solidarity, and addressed the key elements of the new hospital law, which, she stated, aims to: “further develop cooperation between different health care providers in hospitals, bring hospital and research areas closer together and strive for excellence.”

In addition to modern hospital infrastructure, which promotes an environment conducive to prompt recovery, the minister also stressed the importance of continuing to develop primary care facilities.

Moreover, at an official ceremony of the "Design & Health World Congress", the Minister of Health was present at the award of the prestigious Design and Health Prize in the Future Healthy Built Environment Project Project of the CHEM Südspidol.

This internationally renowned award, which rewards exceptional visions, services or initiatives from international actors in the field of public and hospital health, places special emphasis on the innovative and sustainable direction of the project for the construction of the future Südspidol, by the Austrian architectural team Albert Wimmer.
