The Grand Ducal court hs confirmed that, at lunchtime today, Wednesday 26 July 2017, the Grand-Ducal Family had to be evacuated from their summer property in Cabasson (Var), located between Marseilles and Nice, because of a massive fire around Bormes-les-Mimosas.

Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke Jean, Grand Duke Henri and the Grand Duchess, some of their children and other members of the Grand-Ducal Family, were provided with security and rehoused by the French authorities. Details on how the fire started are not yet known.

Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess wish to reassure the public that the members of the Family are doing well. They also thanked the French authorities, the prefecture, the mayor of Bormes-les-Mimosas, the fire brigade, the gendarmerie and the police for their exemplary help, which they descried as extremely effective and very helpful in this difficult time.
