This afternoon, maximum temperatures exceeded 35°C across the majority of Luxembourg.

The high temperatures of the past week are set to prevail, with elevated night temperatures of between 20 and 24°C. The Ministry of Health issued recommendations for coping with the heat wave, with Saturday expected to be the hottest day so far with temperatures of up to 39°C.

This heat wave in parts of Western Europe and the South-West has been attributed to the rise of a heat mass from the Iberian Peninsula. Temperatures could reportedly be the highest recorded by the Findel weather station since 1947.
