On Friday 24 July 2015, the Regional Directorate of Luxembourg (Prevention Service of the Grand Ducal Police) presented diplomas to the participants of the Selbstbehauptungskurs für Frauen und Männer seminar on trust at the new building of the Grand Ducal Police.

The seminar was organised and subsidised by the City of Luxembourg and the communes of Walferdange and Hesperange, with its graduation ceremony attended by Secretary of State, Francine Closener; Mayor of the City of Luxembourg, Lydie Polfer; and Alderman of the Municipality of Hesperange, Robert Leven. The Grand Ducal Police Regional Constituency of Luxembourg was represented by Regional Director, René Lindenlaub, and the event was supervised by Commissioners Steve Goedert and Jérôme Alesch.

All 38 candidates of the seminar, which took place between April and July 2015, were congratulated on receiving their diploma and the partners of the initiative were thanked.

The training consisted of thirteen 2-3 hour modules, providing participants with information on how to behave in order to avoid or overcome any form of violence. The project, overseen by the DRl Prevention Service, reportedly brought together multiple stakeholders including the 'Self-Defense' club of the Grand Ducal Police; the 'Anti-Violence' associations of Phoenix ASBL; 'Infomann' of SCAS; and the 'Women in Distress', 'Vi Sa Vis' and 'Riicht Eraus' organisations.

Francine Closener and Lydie Polfer expressed their interest in the course and stated they would continue to dedicate their support to the project in the future.
