A construction site accident early on Wednesday afternoon resulted in a worker being seriously injured and hospitalised.
The accident happened at around 12:30 on Bld des Lumières in Esch-sur-Alzette when a crane was being used to hoist a metal beam. A worker tried unsuccessfully to attach a hook to the beam and signalled to the crane operator who misunderstood and started to hoist the beam. The heavy load was unsecured and swung round, pinning the workman who received serious injuries in the accident.
The Inspection du Travail et des Mines (ITM) were informed and are carrying out an inquiry.
