A Meteolux weather report, published 24 August 2015, has revealed that the summer of 2015 has been the second hottest observed at the Findel weather station since 1947.

Temperatures over the last few months have been consistently higher than average, with the average temperature reported to have been 19.2°C at the time of the report, 23 August 2015. The highest temperature for this summer was 36.1°C, on 4 July 2015, making it the highest temperature by 0.4°C for the month of July since records began in 1947.

This year's July itself became the 7th hottest July in the Grand Duchy, with an average temperature of 20.3°C following close behind records made in 2006, 1995, 1994, 1983, 2010 and 2013.

August 2015 held an average temperature of 20.2°C, making it 2.5°C hotter than the same month between the years of 1981 to 2010.  

Whilst the weather has been changeable in recent weeks, this summer has been the third driest on record, with an accumulated rainfall of 107.1 l/m2 significantly lower than any other summer between 1981 and 2010. June provided the heaviest rainfall of the summer 2015 months, with 42.8 l/m2, whilst August has been the driest with a mere 34.0 l/m2 by 23 August. The 2015 summer in Luxembourg was also found to be below the long-term average in terms of days of rain, with 34 compared with 40.

The Luxembourg population had ample sunbathing opportunity this summer, with 732 hours of sunshine!
